Tumor Tip of the Week-07-26-2024 CPC*Search Cancer / PathCHART Search

07-26-2024 CPC*Search Cancer / PathCHART Search

Just wanted to highlight another handy little tool, CPC*Search .  This might be a helpful tool in your arsenal of defense when trying to help determine the appropriate site, histology and behavior codes combinations. Now it should not be your first line of defense, but sometimes it can help you decide early on, to avoid going down the wrong path.

This was a scenario we ran across the other day; a patient had a biopsy of the prostate that showed malignant mesothelioma.  If you look this up in CPC*Search, you’ll see right away that is an impossible combination, so you know you will have to do some more research to determine the appropriate primary site/histology combination.

Can you think of other ways this CPC*Search might be helpful?  Add it to your list of resources, Happy Abstracting 😊
